Police Station

Most criminal investigations start at the police station.  You will either be detained under arrest, or you could be invited to attend voluntarily.

Let our team help you

The Police Station

If under arrest, the police have several powers which include but are not limited to, detention for up to 24 hours (possibly longer by extension), taking DNA samples, fingerprints and photograph, and conducting tests for alcohol or drugs in certain cases.  In addition, you and your property could be searched and goods including money could be seized.

Alternatively, you may be invited for a voluntary interview under caution. Whilst you are under no obligation to attend, sometimes it may be in your best interest to do so.  If you do not attend, the police may arrest you.

The police have the power to charge you with an offence and keep you in custody to be produced at a Magistrates Court.

Why have Shah Hague Solicitors in the Police Station?

Shah Hague Solicitors is a specialist in Police Station representation.

We have over 30 years experience representing clients.  The Police Station is a hostile environment.  The loss of your liberty can be traumatic.  It is imperative you have us representing you and looking after your best interests.  Client care is at the forefront of everything we do.

Under Arrest?

We will provide you with representation 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  When we attend the Police Station, we will check on your welfare, obtain disclosure (the allegation against you), obtain your detailed instructions and advise you on an appropriate strategy for the police interview.  We guarantee we will be in attendance with you during your interview unlike some law firms who attend remotely.

Following your interview, you could be charged with an offence, reported on summons for prosecution, cautioned, released on police bail pending further enquiries (with or without conditions), released under investigation or there may be no further action.

Voluntary Interview?

A voluntary interview is initiated by the police.  The police will normally contact you either by telephone or in person to make the arrangements.  If this happens it is important you do not discuss anything with the Police without speaking to us first.

As soon as you contact Shah Hague Solicitors, our team will take over.  We will speak with the Police to make all the necessary arrangements, so you don’t have to.  You may not be able to attend at the time the Police have arranged.  We will liaise with the Police and arrange a time which is convenient for you.  We will take this opportunity to obtain disclosure of the allegation (if possible).  We will obtain your instructions prior to the interview and advise you on  an appropriate strategy.  One of our team will always attend and represent you during your interview.

What you decide to do in your interview could have serious consequences.  Cases are often won or lost at the Police Station.  Quality and timely advice by our specialist team can lead to a favorable outcome.

We distinguish ourselves from other law firms by providing continuous partner involvement in all cases.

We cover all police station in England and Wales.
